Secondary Market Manager, Multi-Family Lending
El Segundo, CA

For our El Segundo location we are seeking a seasoned Secondary Market Manager with Multi-Family Real Estate Lending experience. This position is responsible for managing all multi-family loan related secondary market activity for the Bank, including the purchase and sale of loan pools. This role will play a key part in the growth of the Bank's origination and sale platform including the ongoing strategic development of this business line. The position thrives in a very high pressure, fast-pace, and ever changing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing all loan related secondary market transactions, including both sales and purchases.
  • Responsible for marketing loan pools to the Bank's network of banks and brokers and managing all communications with prospective purchasers including confidentiality agreements, the data room, purchase negotiations and ultimately transaction execution.
  • Effectively manage the execution of loan sales to ensure applicable milestones are achieved to assist senior management in managing the Bank's balance sheet and risk exposures.
  • Assist senior management in marketing whole loans to investors.
  • Manage and coordinate primary and secondary market research studies ' both qualitative and quantitative for the brand and markets assigned.
  • Manages the development of secondary market systems and structuring tools.
  • Support business development projects in the assigned area of responsibility. 
  • Act as change agent and an expert in the areas of market research inquiry that have taken place.
  • Ensure that the actions and decisions taken have incorporated the considerations delivered from the marketing research effort and studies.
  • Foster an environment of open learning based on evidence provided by the market research discipline.
  • Analyze potential loan pools that will optimize current and future loan sale opportunities.
  • Structure pools that maximize loan inventory with investor pricing and requirements.
  • Develop and manage secondary market investor trading relationships.
  • Develop awareness for capital markets issues and trends that will impact sale execution.
  • Participate with the secondary market team to achieve significant and timely trades.
  • Analyze data on the performance of the sold-loan portfolio (prepayment and delinquency) for trends and comparison to industry norms.
  • Understand and adhere to the Bank's Bank Secrecy Act policy and procedures and "know your customer/enhanced due diligence" guidelines.
  • Bring any suspicious activity to the attention of a supervisor, or the Bank Secrecy Act Officer.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and may train others on products, services, departmental systems, and related technology, policies and procedures.
  • Follow all Bank policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.


Basic Requirements:

  • BA/BS in a business related field or equivalent
  • A minimum of 5+ years' experience with the use of secondary market research data/audits, plus working knowledge of dealing with outside strategy consultants, Multi-Family real estate preferred.
  • Familiarity with lifecycle issues.
  • Familiarity with competitive intelligence methods and practices.
  • Complete knowledge and understanding of bank operations, policies and procedures.
  • Excellent written and communication skills, including ability to deal professionally with issues, problems, and questions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy; good organizational, research and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of clients, staff, and management.
  • Requires the ability to exercise independent judgment and employ basic reasoning skills.
  • Ability to work successfully in a deadline driven, team environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Skills necessary to be a successful supervisor including compliance with human resources policies and procedures, recruiting and training staff, providing regular feedback to direct reports, establishing and supporting attainment of goals for direct reports and completing annual performance evaluations.
