For our Irvine location we are seeking a seasoned Lending Underwriter with Commercial Real Estate and Construction underwriting experience. This position will be responsible for analyzing and monitoring the credit worthiness of the bank's clientele.  Qualified applicants will possess solid analytical skills in financial statement & tax return analysis, interviewing and probing skills and be proficient at preparing credit approval memos.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze all financial data related to new and renewal of commercial real estate loan and construction loan requests. 
  • Enter the most complex financial statements and related information to financial spreadsheet software for analysis.
  • Draft loan agreement based on meeting with relationship managers.  
  • Recommend proper loan documentation and loan structure for the most complex credits.
  • Review loan documents for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to approval conditions.
  • Make calls to clients to obtain all necessary information and clarification on financial analysis materials and resources.  
  • Monitor existing portfolio to ensure proper risk ratings and early identification of potential problems.
  • Structure loans based on risk considerations and submit credits for appropriate approval.
  • Review construction related materials, including construction contracts, cost budgets, building plans, governmental approvals and permits.
  • Understand and adhere to the Bank's Bank Secrecy Act policy and procedures and "know your customer/enhanced due diligence" guidelines.
  • Bring any suspicious activity to the attention of a supervisor, or the Bank Secrecy Act Officer.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and may train others on products, services, departmental systems, and related technology, policies and procedures.
  • Follow all Bank policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.


Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a business related field; or 5+ years' equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years' experience in in Construction and Commercial Real Estate lending for all types of Commercial Real Estate properties.
  • Support the Bank's strong relationship banking culture through on-going customer contact, quality customer service, and superior product knowledge.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of clients, staff, and management.
  • Ability to work successfully in a deadline driven, team environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
